One of the first things I learned traveling with Amish families in winter is this: summer never truly ends if you prepare well. Cellars stay full, shelves stay lined, and apples—put up months ago—show up warm and fragrant in the dead of January. Apple pie filling isn’t just convenience. It’s foresight, care, and hospitality saved for later.
